MEMBER NEWS

As the lockdown eases and motorsport begins its careful resumption the BWRDC Committee continue to work and consider the impact on our members.

Back in April we extended all our current members membership by a complete year FOC.

In May we issued our Racing Vogue magazine digitally and made it FREE for everyone.

In June we have decided to extend the first year membership to all new members of the Club through until 31st December 2021 – giving up to 18 months for the price of 12.

The Committee are committed to giving our members the very best value and are always looking for ways to increase the value of your membership, so

In light of the reduced amount of competition available to our members this year, the Committee have made the decision to reduce the number of rounds that count towards our championships so as to not unfairly disadvantage members who only have limited events available to them. All our Championships for 2020 will be based on the results from the best 5 events. We hope this will encourage more members to claim points than ever before and benefit from the exposure being involved in our Championships offer.

To enable as many members as possible to join our Championships we will accept points claims at any time during the year – right up until the final closing date which is 5 days after our Championship year end of 30th November.

We know many of our members are competing in sim racing and rallying and we would love to hear how you are getting on? Is it just for fun? Or is it serious competition? If we have enough members competing in this way we would like to consider a special award, so do let us know what you’re doing.

We are investigating hosting a ladies only sim race for our members in association with iZone, a long time sponsor and supporter of the Club – are you interested? Do you want to know more? – just message Katie Milner the Kart and Race Section Secretary

Our Social Media continues to share and promote our members and their activities and members are encouraged to #BWRDC – for specific questions just email or message Shell Garlick. The Members page is only available to current members and is the place to share what you’re doing with other members.

Sue Connikie is working with Shell and Charlotte Phelps to come up with a proposal for a Volunteers GoldStar Award and I am sure they would be happy to hear your suggestions.

Our next Racing Vogue will be published in late Autumn, by which time we hope to have lots of articles from you about how you are getting on – email Cat Lund if you have a story to share.

The Website now has a page dedicated to our members to promote their businesses and to offer other members discounts and privileges – just email or message Cat to find out more.

We sincerely hope that all our members get the opportunity to get back out competing, marshaling, officiating or just enjoying motorsport but we want you to know that the Committee is keeping abreast of the ever changing situation and will endeavour, as always, to keep our members informed and to give our members the best possible Club that they can be proud to be a member of.

You should also note that we really do welcome your feedback, suggestions and if you would like to be involved in the running of the Club we would love to hear from you too.

Finally, I send my personal best wishes and STAY SAFE whatever you are doing.
