Awards Presentation for 2004

At Whittlebury Hall, Northamptonshire

5th March 2005

Guest Speaker:

Joy Rainey.jpg (21382 bytes)

Joy Rainey
Joy Rainey has been competing in motorsport for many years.  Best known for her exploits hill-climbing, she has recently discovered a new passion in her life - long distance rallies.  She competed in the London to Sydney marathon in a Morris Minor in 2004.  Joy entertained us with stories of how she started in motorsport (winning sheets, tea-towels and table-cloths rather than the coveted trophies the men were collecting) and went on to describe the rally.   Helen Bashford-Malkie requested a few tips on going up Shelsley Walsh, where Joy has held the ladies record over numerous years and finished up by agreeing with Helen that going up a hill really was Pheeeeeeeeeewwaaaaaaaaagh!!!

Joy has just written a book "Fast Lady", details of which can be found on her website www.joyrainey.net
