Just what have women achieved in motorsport?

In co-operation with the British Women Racing Drivers’ Club, who celebrated their 40th Anniversary in 2003, a unique book has been published which highlights the achievements of 200 women in motorsport over the last 60 years.

The first post-war book to be solely dedicated to women’s participation in motorsport, illustrates the many impressive achievements that women have attained in all forms of motorsport. It is not about women’s liberation, does not set out to be political, pro-women or anti-men, it simply tries to illustrate what women have achieved in a sport where they have happily chosen to compete equally alongside their ‘fellow’ competitors and where results are collectively measured.

Nine chapters are dedicated to personal profiles of drivers from the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and African Continents, who have competed since 1945, with a further nine chapters featuring an assortment of specialised events/venues where women have competed, ie.women’s participation in the Le Mans 24-hour race, Indy 500, and Formula 1, major overall victories in World Rallying and other International events, the Brighton and Shelsley Walsh ladies records, Classic Trials, and the only all-female rally the Paris-St-Raphael.

A unique reference to post-war women, which it is hoped will be of interest and inspiration to all.

The hardback book measures 295mm x 210mm (A4), contains 208 pages, is fully illustrated throughout with some 300 images, many never published before, including a 4-page colour gallery.
