Gail Hill - 2012 BWRDC Club GoldStar

Occupation
NHS care home manager/ ARDS instructor.

Last year I attained my ARDS instructors licence and I work part time as a supercar instructor driving Aston Martins, Ferraris, Lambos, Nissan GTRs and Audi R8s!

First year of competition
2002

Competition Car
I'm now in my eleventh year of racing assorted Jaguars.
I've raced the following: 5.8 litre & 6 litre XJ-S V12; 4.0 litre XJ-S, 4.0 litre XJ40 saloon, Mazda MX5, Jaguar XK140, XK150 and tested a Ginetta G50, Saker GT

Why did you start?
I had watched some friends from the Jag Enthusiast's club in the 2001 season. Did a track day in my own XJS and thought this is absolutely brilliant and the rest is history.

I write for Jaguar World Monthly magazine and have my own column as well as write race reports on line. I do presentations to car clubs about racing. I also do some after dinner speaking about being a fast lady

I would like to be the be the first person to win both XJ-S and Saloon titles and win the overall (now) combined Championship. I'd also like to race in British GT, GT cup or any higher level series and put my skills and talent to the test.

Best Event
At Oulton park in 2006, exactly one year on from a disastrous race at Brands where my two cars got written off when I led the championship, I took a third overall, my eighth class win from nine starts and won the overall XJS Championship with one round still to go.

Worst Event
At Brands in 2005. I was leading the championship and my 4 litre car was written off on the Saturday on the run up to Druids by another car which lost control and pitched me into the Armco.

The next day with the championship still possible my car (bought for the 2006 season) a V12 was brought down. I started 32nd on the grid, finished 8th just behind the 2 cars in front. Another driver (who shall remain nameless) went down the straight and then across the circuit with one wheel missing and turned into the pit lane exit! Right in front of yours truly. The 120mph crash ensued the new car was written off and a trip to hospital was the outcome - my championship hopes went out of the window .

Favourite Circuit/Venue
Any and all!!! If it means I can race then anywhere will do - though Oulton is both fast and technical so it has it all.
